Research involving the participation of humans at QUT (conducted by staff and/or students) must be undertaken in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research Involving Humans. The purpose of the Statement is to promote ethical conduct in all aspects of human research. QUT is accredited to conduct these activities.

The research proposal must be submitted for the appropriate level of University ethical review, and the proponent must receive notification of approval before the proposal commences.

The University Human Research Ethics Committee (UHREC) has been established to review and monitor the conduct of research involving human participation. Information on UHREC can be found on the Governance Services website.

QUT has established policies in relation to the conduct of research involving human participation and these can be found in the MOPP Policy D/6.3 Research involving the participation of humans.

Researchers who are unclear of their obligations under the National Statement and University policy should consult with the Human Ethics Resources Section (see below) and their supervisor/research team and/or Faculty Research Ethics Advisor.
