Internal Close Date: 20 February 2008. Please submit your application electronically to Radka Preclikova by the Internal Close Date. The submission should include your application form (Informed Filler) with synopsis attached, PDF attachment and your Approval to Apply for Research Funding Coversheet.

Processes for preparing and submitting NHMRC Project Grant applications within QUT has changed for the current round to:

  • Ensure local and Office of Research processes are coordinated and clearly communicated to applicants and staff as early as possible
  • Encourage applicants to prepare applications earlier
  • Improve the quality of applications submitted by QUT in major rounds
  • Improve the value of Faculty/Institute peer review
  • Improve the value of Office of Research review services

Important: QUT has discretion not to submit applications to the NHMRC. A decision may be made not to submit an application, for example, if it is considered to be of particularly poor quality or includes clearly uncompetitive teams, if it is has not been reviewed by appropriately qualified peers, if it is does not meet QUT requirements or where Faculties/Institutes will not/cannot provide required infrastructure support. The Office of Research consults with and receives recommendations from Deans/Assistant Deans Research/Institute Directors in such cases.

NHMRC Career Development Awards

Major changes to the Career Development Award policy:

  1. Introduction of two levels of CDAs:
    • CDA Level 1 – 2-7 years post-doctoral experience;
    • CDA Level 2 – 7-12 years post-doctoral experience
  2. Incorporation of the Industry Fellowships concept into the scheme;
  3. Incorporation of the Howard Florey Centenary Fellowship concept into the scheme;
  4. Reduction of the length of the award from 5 years to 4 years.

NHMRC Partnership Projects
