Books that fall into the categories listed below can be submitted to the QUT Scholarly Collection using the
 A: Book - QUT Scholarly Collection Coversheet (updated August 2009).
The HERDC Definition of Research does not need to be confirmed for QUT Scholarly Collection publications.
Book sub-categories
- A2 - Substantial Scholarly Books written by a sole author or group of authors, for example:
- Research monographs and books which do not meet the HERDC criteria for books
- Translations of published books
- A3 - Edited Book - Books which consist of a series of chapters contributed by a number of authors. This category should be used to record the editors of a book. Each individual chapter can be recorded as a book chapter in either the HERDC (if it meets the HERDC criteria) or the QUT Scholarly Collection
- A4 - Revised or New Edition Books - This category should be used for previously published books already recorded in either Publication Collection. Any book chapters that have undergone a significant rewrite may be eligible for inclusion in the book chapter category - B for HERDC publications and BN for QUT Scholarly publications
- A5 - Textbook - This category should be used if the textbook does not meet the HERDC criteria for a book
- A6 - Reference Book - This category should be used for a reference book such as a dictionary or encylopedia that does not meet the HERDC criteria for a book
