The following classifications and codes may be required to fill in application or coversheet forms.


FOR-08 - Field of Research Codes

FOR-08 codes allow a publication or project to be classified according to the field of research and are required for our reporting to ABS as well as ARC and NHMRC applications and ERA.

SEO - Socio-Economic Classification Codes

SEO codes allow R&D data to be classified according to the intended purpose or outcome of the research. They are requirement as part of our ABS reporting requirement as well as for ARC and NHMRC applications and assist in classifying research activity.

NEW: SEO-08 codes to be used from 1 April 2008 onwards
Please note: if you are submitting an ARC Linkage Application in2009 please use an SEO code from the archived lists below.

ANZSIC - Australian New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification Codes

ASCED - Australian Standard Classification of Education Codes

The Australian Standard Classification of Education (ASCED) is a statistical classification for use in the collection and analysis of data on educational activity and attainment. ASCED has been developed as part of a national framework for the storage, exchange and dissemination of statistical and administrative data on educational activity in Australia. It replaces a number of education classifications used prior to 2001 for data from the various sectors of the Australian education system. Visit the ABS website for a listing of ASCED codes.
