  • administrative responsibility for liaison and co-ordination on all new and on-going externally-funded and internal grants, including administration and liaison on contractual, financial and reporting obligations pertaining to research awards
  • planning and organisation of a variety of development initiatives relating to research for academic staff and postgraduate students in liaison with appropriate offices in the University, including research information seminars, specific workshops and school/faculty sessions as part of a broad but specialised education function for academic staff and postgraduate research students
  • to undertake a proactive outreach role linking University-based researchers and postgraduate research students with industry partners to undertake innovative, industry-driven research
  • post-award administrative responsibilities for all grants, scholarships and fellowships, including support for the conduct and administration of internally funded schemes from the University research budget
  • production of (in conjunction with Division of Finance and Resource Planning) the collection of research statistics for the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR)
  • facilitation of the smooth administration of research grants at QUT, by explaining the synergies between and responsibilities of the Office of Research, the Finance Section and the Human Resources Department to successful researchers
  • provision of initial advice, by way of reference to appropriate authorities in the University, on research related obligations of successful researchers including ethics and other agreements to which QUT may from time to time be signatory
  • provision of substantial input on policy matters related to research issues including management and reporting on the University Research Budget, and provision of statistical reports and advice on research performance including the QUT Annual Research Report
  • the coordination of research ethics administration at the University level and enhancing Faculty-level procedures for the ethical conduct of research
  • overall responsibility for policy development and advice, management and administration, as well as monitoring and reporting of research ethics at QUT
  • maintenance of key research performance data across research income, publications and HDR students and the provision of strategic data reports
  • coordination of QUT’s response to the Research Quality Framework.
